Showcase is one of the busiest and most exciting times at Generations!

We believe that the opportunity to perform allows dancers to develop their confidence, teamwork skills, and work ethic all while increasing their dance technique and artistry skills. But all of this can be stressful. This page is here to help you and your family have a positive Showcase experience. Please ask us any questions you have.

theatre location & accessibility

The Dance Showcase will be held at the Winchester Theatre (80 Winchester St, Toronto, ON M4X 1B2). This is a 30min drive (traffic depending) from the studio.

Parking Information: Street parking is limited but free until 12 AM. Green P parking is available at 51 Aberdeen Avenue.

TTC Information: Take the Bloor-Danforth subway line to Castle Frank station. From there, take the Parliament Street bus south to Winchester Street (about a 5 minute ride). Walk east for one block along Winchester Street. Or, take the Carlton Streetcar east to Parliament Street. Walk north for two blocks to Winchester Street (at the next set of traffic lights), turn right, and walk for one block.

Theatre Accessibility

Unfortunately the Winchester Street Theatre is not currently wheelchair accessible. We apologize for the barrier this creates. There are three steps outside of the front entrance, a small platform, and then three more steps to the lobby (a straight hallway that then leads you to the theatre). To access the private gender-neutral restrooms, there are five additional steps at the end of the lobby. The seats in the theatre are on risers with stairs; please contact hello@generationsperformingarts.com if it is more comfortable to have a seat near the front to reduce the number of steps.

showcase tickets

We have 144 tickets per show, with no assigned seating, there is not a bad seat in the house. Please note: Tiny Dancers are ONLY in the 10:30am showcase and Mini dancers are NOT in the 4:00pm showcase. Tickets are limited to 4 per family this year (6 for those with more than one student in the show), and you may split them up between showcases if you wish. All students will be backstage with supervision. Tickets orders will open Monday, April 7th at 7am. You will receive an email with further instructions closer to the date.

Tickets are $26.50 + HST & FEES to help offset the costs of putting on a wonderful showcase weekend. Children 2yrs and under who can sit on an adult’s lap are free.

video recording

Photography and videography are not permitted in the theatre.

We will film the 10:30am showcase. Digital copies of the showcase are included in your Production fee. The digital download link will be emailed out to all families by the end of June, 2025.

We will be offering a free livestream link for the 10:30am showcase for extended family members and friends unable to attend due to limited seating/accessibility.

drop off & pick up

Drop Off: Please arrive at the
Winchester Theatre 30 minutes prior to the 10:30am showcase and 15 minutes prior to the 1:30pm & 4:00pm showcases
with your performer fully dressed in costume with hair and makeup done. If your child is in more than one class, refer to the running order to note which costume they should arrive in. The entrance to the dressing room is on the south side of the theatre on Winchester Street. One parent/adult may bring their performer to their assigned dressing room door. After you drop off your performer please head to the audience for seating. All performers are expected to stay for the entire performance (with the exception of Tiny dancers) Our staff and teachers will be present with the students at all times in studio spaces with movies & activities provided.

Important: The 10:30am showcase ends with our final group bow & awards.

Medals: If your child was with us in Season 1 (2022/23) or Season 2 (2023/24) please bring your medal with you to the 10:30am showcase as they will receive a special Season 3 badge to pin on their medal. All new students will receive their Generations medal.

Pickup: Parents will pick performers up from the dressing room at the end of the showcases. Please use the same door for pick up as for drop off. Parents will not be permitted backstage via the stage. You may leave your belongings in the dressing room between shows.

TINY DANCERS ONLY: One parent of each of our tiny dancers is asked to stay with their performer backstage until it’s time to start the show, when you may head out to your seats. We will have them perform top of show, and release them to you in the audience during the opening speech to watch the show on laps.

between showcases

There are short breaks between showcases to get your dancer/s food, a rest and to return back. We request you plan ahead, pack a meal to bring, head outside or to Riverdale park by the Riverdale farm (5 min walk) to rest and eat before signing back in OR to Parliament street for some food. If you’d like your child to stay between shows, please let us know at drop off, we will have faculty on hand to supervise students in the studios. Pack extra snacks and bring an old t-shirt or cover up for eating.

PIZZA ORDER 3PM: As the turnaround time between the 1:30pm and the 4:00pm showcase is short, we will be placing a pizza order for any students & families who wish to have food ready for them at 3pm (pizza, chips, drinks). Orders will open with the tickets on Monday, April 7th, 2025.
